UK buildings not suitable for hotter temperatures

News from the Climate Change Committee reveals that the UK will build 1.5 million houses in the next five years that are not designed to withstand high temperatures. This comes in addition to the 570,000 that have already been built since 2016.

The recent heatwave shows that temperatures in the UK are rising, with climate change making heatwaves more and more likely in the future. This means that property developers will need to consider solutions to keep new builds cool in the future – while it is also vital to better equip existing buildings for extreme heat down the line.

This can be done in a number of different ways. Our own systems can provide cooling solutions for properties of all types, while wind catchers, air source heat pumps and more can also help to make a difference. Without changes such as these, effective cooling of properties will continue to be a problem going forward.
